You can clone or duplicate the standard products within your online store to add more customization to the products. This article will cover how to add variations to cloned Design your Own (DYO) products.
- Click on Store .
- Hover over Products and click on Your DYO Products.
- Click on Edit beside the product you'd like to add variations to.
- Click on the Variations tab on the left hand side.
- IMPORTANT: All variations NEED TO BE ADDED to the Formats row. Click Edit on the Formats row to add variations.
- In this new window, click the Variation Items tab at the top.
- Add your variations within the Name/Title column. If you're adding more than one variation, click Add Item Row to continue to add more. You will need to ensure that the status column is set to "Active" in order to save these variations. If the status column is left blank, these variations will not save. Once you have all of your variations added, click Save.
- Now you'll need to combine the new variations with all of the other variations already within this product, you'll do so by clicking the Create Combinations button.
- You'll want to check these three boxes: Append Parent Title, Append Parent SKU, and also the check box at the top of the list that automatically checks all of your new variations.
- Click Save.
- It will then pop up another save screen, if you'd like to make any adjustments to the title and/or SKU of these variations, you can do so now (and you can always update it later). Once this information is correct, click Save.
- If you've added a new variation (like we have in this example), there are a few more steps. You'll need to scroll down to the new combinations, hover over them with your cursor, and take note of the Object ID.
- Scroll back up to the variations section, and click edit beside Formats once more.
- Click on the Variation Items tab, then add the Object ID to the SKU column to the correct variation. Do this for all new variations. Click Save once completed.
- Now you'll need to add the Weight (will affect shipping prices), selling price, SKU, and the XML for these variations. You'll do this by clicking on the link to the combinations you've just created.
- You can then add the Weight, Selling Price, SKU, XML, and any other necessary fields here. If you're unsure of what XML is, or how to create it, please visit our XML User Guide.
- Click Save.
