Your Online Store has opened up your ability to sell products nationwide. Online customers are just like your customers that come through your door, except they don't have to live down the road. They can be anywhere!
We have compiled a list of best practices learned from our experience providing web solutions for the last 17 years as well as exhaustive research. This list is by no means everything there is to do – but they are critical steps to ensure your online orders go smoothly.
Move quickly. You will receive an email when an order is placed on your Store. The sooner you send the order to the Wholesale Supplier that is fulfilling it the sooner your customer will receive their order.
Stay connected with the Wholesale Supplier. We suggest setting a reminder to follow up with any company that is fulfilling your client's order. In doing so, you are aware of the status of the order and are able to answer any questions that your customer has in that regard.
Proof Approvals. Sending your customer an artwork proof of their customized order is the best way to eliminate any issues down the road. It is fast and easy and your customer will appreciate the extra step taken to ensure their order is correct.
Notify your customer when their order has shipped. Notifying your customer that their order has been shipped can be managed through your Stores portal on www.myvcg.com. Once you enter the tracking number of the shipment and change the "Status" to "Shipped" you can then check the "Notify Customer via Email". This will send your customer an email that their order has been shipped.
Follow up and get feedback. Who doesn't love receiving a follow-up call to make sure everything went great with their order...no one! It is probably the best 2 minutes you can spend. A quick call provides you with a connection (verbally) to your customer that shows you are really interested in their experience. You might even get them to submit feedback that you can use in your marketing efforts!
Be timely with payments. You always want to make sure that you establish a good working relationship with any Wholesale Supplier you are working with. Paying invoices on time is the best way to do this. They will appreciate the effort you put forth and will be more willing to work with you when unforeseen issues arise.
